The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prioritizes the health and safety of our staff and the individuals in our custody. Following precautionary measures implemented at the Buena Vista Correctional Complex (BVCC) on February 25, 2026, water quality testing confirmed that chlorine levels returned to optimal suggested ranges on Friday, February 27, 2026.

As of  Friday, February 27, 2026, the facility lifted all precautionary bottled-water protocols, and normal tap-water usage resumed for all staff and individuals in our custody.

Throughout the precautionary period, medical staff remained on-site to monitor the population. There were no reported illnesses linked to water quality during that time, and all facility operations remained stable and on schedule.
